EC contract to UMS
After the tsunami in Asia, increasing extreme weather and a number of terror actions, modern solutions for population alert are brought to focus all over the world.

Norway was close to a catastrophe in Lillestrøm six years ago when a train carrying gas collided with another train at the railway station. Luckily the temperature of the gas was kept low enough to stop a boiling liquid expanding vapor explosion (BLEVE).

Unified Messaging Systems AS (UMS) has reached a position where the company has been assigned the project management role in an EC project for modern communication to the population (population alert).
Being a small company, it is rather sensational being assigned this role in a project with high internal focus in the European Commision. Our knowledge and patented solution has been decisive for the assignment.

Since 2001 the company has developed, tested and improved the solution, in close collaboration with the Directorate for Civil Protection and Emergency Planning (DSB). The solution makes effective alerts via fixed and mobile phones possible.

The assignment of the project leader role has attracted great attention in the media, and was covered over two pages in the Norwegian financial newspaper Dagens Næringsliv on the 20th of June 2006.
